News Letter 2008 Newsletter - Spring 2008 At last not to long to go before you need to wonder exactly where you did leave your kit at the end of last season. Preparation is in full swing and there is plenty of news to give to you........... Pre-season Indoor Nets - Pre season nets are again held at the Norwich
School Cricket Gallery on 3rd and 10th April (8pm - 10pm). These are
excellent facilities (thanks to Paul Oxbury for arranging these). The
entrance is on St Faiths Lane (Norwich city centre) with parking on
the streets behind Mercy and Prince of Wales Road. New and existing
members all welcome! AGM Notes - At the AGM all officers were re-elected. In addition I am pleased to confirm Chas Bellchamber accepted the position as Vice President (joining Ian Bishop, Phil Clarke and Miles Fish). It was also agreed the cost of teas for both days would be set at the same amount of £16 however if you were asked to do subsequent teas then you can claim (within reason) the full cost back. Match fees remain at £7 Adults & £3 for under 18, full time education and unemployed. Pinebanks -You may have read about the proposed closure and this of course could affect us, as our ground is shared with Norwich Union. A recent meeting with the council allayed any fears that we would be asked to vacate the pitch in preference for Norwich Union. Norfolk Cricket League Division 3 - The league this year is sponsored by a Thorpe based financial services company called Lucas Fettes & Partners. Our first game is at home against Kirkley Sports on 3rd May 2008. Other teams in our league include Belton, Old Catton, Cringleford, Diss A, Cromer A, Brooke A, Norwich Union & Loddon. This season sees a new rule where you must declare the ages of all young players before the game starts. Friendly Fixtures. - Pre-season starts with friendlies at Mattishall
(13th April) and Norwich Union (20th April) - these as usual will be
split between the Saturday and Sunday teams to ensure all players get
an early game. New additions to the fixture card includes visits to
Lowestoft A (as part of their cricket week) and the picturesque ground
of Old Buckenham.
